At Micklebugh we want to make musical instruments both accessible and affordable for everyone, therefore we offer several different ways to buy instruments, equipment and accessories.

We offer finance options through two different schemes, both of which allow you to spread the cost of buying an instrument into several smaller payments. ‘Take it away’ provides interest-free loans for musical instruments, equipment, software and tuition. In short, it gives music-makers the backing they need.

Interest-free credit for 18-25-year-olds or over 18-year-olds buying an instrument for a child under 18.

What is it?

The ‘Take it away’ scheme offers interest-free loans to buy musical instruments, equipment and accessories.

Mickleburgh are delighted to be one of the approved retailers. This means any product purchased in store between the cost of £100 to £5,000 can be financed in conjunction with the ‘Take it away’ scheme.

How the scheme works

Take it away is operated by Creative United, a not-for-profit organisation, funded by the Art Council England.

The scheme is designed to increase access to buying musical instruments and equipment whilst supporting specialist music shops, like Mickleburgh, who serve as an important part of local community music serves regionally.

Credit for the scheme is provided by Omni Capital Retail  qualifying criteria applies. To find out more about the scheme, give us a call, send us an email or come into store.

In Store
Simply come into our Bristol store with proof of ID and income and speak to a member to apply. All we need is a few details from you in order to perform a credit check to get your credit approved.

Once the credit has been approved, we set up your direct debit for the further 9 or 18 payments.  Then all you need to pay is a minimum 10% down payment for your instrument, up to the total purchase price of £5,000.

Next, take away your instrument home. It’s that simple!

An email will be sent to you with a link to the loan application.  The deposit can be paid in store, via Bank Transfer or through PayPal (debit and credit cards can be used).

Beyond the ‘Take it away scheme’, we are pleased to be able to offer finance to customers who want to spread the cost of their purchase.

What is it?

Mickleburgh also offer a separate finance scheme available to all customers. The finance is supplied by Omni Capital Retail Finance and offers customers the chance to spread the cost of buying instruments, accessories and music equipment.

We can offer: 12, 24 or 36 months finance options to spread the cost of your purchase into several monthly direct debit payments, instead of a large upfront cost in one go.

Minimum deposit of £100 for purchases up to the total value of £25,000.

How to apply

In Store
Simply come into store and pay a deposit. All we need is a few details from you in order to perform a credit check to get your credit approved.

Once the credit has been approved, all you need to pay is a minimum 10% down payment for your instrument, up to the total purchase price of £25,000.

Next, we’ll help you set up your direct debit for the further payments and take away your instrument home. It’s that simple!

Eligibility Criteria  

To apply for finance through the scheme you must be aged over 18 and finance is offered subject to eligibility.

Omni Capital will undertake a soft assessment and will offer finance options based on eligibility criteria.

What is the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme?

This is a scheme which enables pupils receiving music lessons at LEA maintained schools or establishments to purchase musical instruments VAT free.  However, this is a voluntary scheme and not all schools, music services/authorities will participate.
